ADA (Zo d'). La Feuille. Paris, October 6, 1897-March 28, 1899 - 25 folio issues, 450 x 315. In sheets, illustrated cover. Crauzat, 680. Rare complete collection of this newspaper edited by journalist, writer and pamphleteer Zo d'Axa, whose real name was Alphonse Gallaud de la Pérouse (1864-1930). This libertarian and anti-militarist author led an eventful life, juggling prosecution, imprisonment and travel. Author of several works, he published two satirical magazines, L'En-dehors, which appeared from 1891 to 1893, and La Feuille, whose first issue appeared on October 6, 1897, at the height of the Dreyfus affair. In the first issue, Zo d'Axa explains what he intends to do: "No promises, no deception. We'll talk about the facts, we'll show the latent causes, we'll point out the whys. And we'll unpack the tricks and name the fiddlers, people of politics and sackcloth, people of letters - all the jean-fichtre. We'll say very simple things, and we'll say them simply. The journal appeared in 25 issues up to March 1899. Each issue consisted of a single sheet, with a drawing by STEINLEN, Maximilien Luce, Willette, Léandre, Hermann Paul, Couturier or Anquetin on the front, and Zo d'Axa's articles on the back, in which he mocked institutions, the army, the judiciary and the docile worker.
