The birdcage recurs frequently in Tadé Makowski's work: as early as 1920, in Enfants devant la cage (reproduced in Léon-Martin, Tadé Makowski, Paris, 1935, pp. 20-21), then in 1929 in Les Oiseaux de la collection Jean Aron (Léon-Martin, pp. 16-17), as well as in Les Enfants devant la cage avec le canari, preserved in the National Museum in Warsaw (MPW 2614 MNW).
