CUVIER (Georges), Mémoires pour servir à l'histoire et à l'anatomie des mollusques, Paris: Deterville, 1817. - In-4, supple parchment overlay, leather ties, smooth spine, speckled edges (modern binding). Collective first edition of this series of 23 memoirs by Georges Cuvier devoted to mollusks, most of which were published in the "Annales du Muséum d'Histoire naturelle", while some are unpublished. The table lists 22 memoirs, but a 23rd has been added in penultimate position, dealing with the animals of the antifa and barnacles. This additional memoir is indeed part of the edition, as confirmed by the notice to the bookbinder at the end. The illustration comprises 36 copper-engraved plates. The table mentions 3 plates in the last memoir, which are not present, as in all copies reproduced online (Gallica, Archive.org, Google Books). Copy in modern imitation binding. In the twelfth memoir, page 6 has curiously not been printed, and the plate has been bound in in the following memoir.
