- In-8, paperback, untrimmed. First edition of this adaptation by François Charles Michel Marie, professor of mathematics and topography, of works published by English mathematics professor, geographer and cartographer John Lodge Cowley (1719-1797), in 1758 ("An appendix to Euclid's elements") and 1765 ("The theory of perspective demonstrated"). It is illustrated with 25 plates, one of which is folding, and 24 of which are on cardboard and cut out. These cut-out plates make it possible "to obtain the representation in relief of the principal solids of regular geometry and 'to illustrate' the procedures for calculating their surfaces and volumes" (Suzanne Perrin, "Objets mathématiques", CNRS, 2017). Paperback copy, as issued and at full margins. Soiling and a few tears to the cover. Provenance: Andreæ Granger, with bookplate.
