MOLIÈRE, Les Œuvres, Amsterdam: Henri Wetstein, 1698. - 4 volumes in-12, red half-chagrin with corners, gilded fillets, spine ribbed, gilded edges (19th-century binding). Collective edition prepared by Wetstein, "much appreciated" according to Guibert, who adds: "It is printed with care, and thanks to a skilful typographical composition, it is highly legible despite its small size." A complete copy of the 31 engravings that precede each piece, which are reductions of Brissart's 1682 engravings. They are not systematically included with each copy. The frontispiece has been placed here in the last volume, opposite the comedy "L'Ombre de Molière". As Guibert also points out, the poor man's scene from "Le Festin de Pierre" has been omitted from this edition. A 19th-century possessor added it, copied onto two leaves between pages 266 and 267 of the play. A good copy in 19th-century binding. Some rubbing to the boards. Tears to the engraving of "Mariage forcé" (volume 2). Provenance: "Pomba" signature on the titles.
