Uncommon first edition of this account of the travels made in the Middle East by the traveler Louis François comte de Ferrières-Sauveboeuf (1750-1814) between 1782 and 1789. It presents his observations of the main cities he visited during these 7 years, with special reflections on the religion, customs and trade of the inhabitants of Turkey, Persia and Arabia. He added details of the Turkish war against Austria and Russia, specifying the dispositions of the three armies and the results of their campaigns. But this work was also an opportunity for the author to settle accounts with Choiseul-Gouffier, then French ambassador to the Ottoman Empire, as he states in his foreword.
