Very interesting set of 4 Ballons Montés and a 5th post from this period. We start with the Gazette des absents n°30 carried by "Le Toricelli" (which also contained Gazette n°29 inside, enclosed) addressed to Le Chesnay near Bonnetable and forwarded. The various peregrinations are explained, and a genealogical study of the individuals is attached, especially as it too was sent to the same address, but rather by the "Jean Bart" (it may also have been sent by the Jules Favre, a detailed explanation is attached, as is a transcript of the mail).
A third Ballon is the same, "Le Toricelli" franked by a n°37 for Calvados, while the 4th Ballon is franked at 40c superfluous postage for Belgium (10c too much) but redirected to Göttingen, stamped on the reverse, and "Paid to destination" on the reverse with departure date December 24, 1870 by "Le Tourville".
The 5th item bears an interesting blue numeral 20c tax and above a linear "German tax" stamp, Roumet certificate, one month after the Armistice (no. 37 "20c bleu Siège" is postmarked 24/02/1871), bearing witness to the subsequent upheavals of this troubled period in the Franco-Prussian war of 1870/1871.
