Exceptional three-volume set of 137 mounted balloons (39 for album no. 1), (52 for album no. 2) and (46 for album no. 3) devoted exclusively to the "absentee gazettes". This formidable in-depth study, probably the only one of its kind, starts with Gazette n°1 and ends with Gazette n°32, (we even have Gazette n° 33, the 1st Gazette not to take 1 balloon used on the 1st day of the resumption of normal mail circulation in accordance with the armistice clauses, dated January 28, 1871).
Almost everything possible is present, different balloons and destinations. We start with an example of a Gazette, with different balloons for each issue. Each fold is explained, with photocopies of arrival stamps, and important passages are highlighted, such as the text handwritten by the sender for the Vauban. Gazette n°1, indicating the creation by printer Jouault of the "little newspaper I'm sending you...".
Then, in the order of issues, we find destinations (London, Turkey, Amsterdam...), entrusted envelopes (the Galilée, whose contents evoke the confirmation of the Republic.
Gazette n° 2. We find the SC cachet in red (Gazette no. 4), and the "Marins détachés" cachet on the reverse. Page 27 of this 1st volume includes Gazette n°8 with 2 n°36, 1 reply dispatch and a gazette for Amsterdam.
Page 29 Gazette n°8 "La ville d'Orléans, damaged letter, stamp detached and stamp "PP", (1st view with Gazette n°8).
For volume no. 2, concerning Gazette 14 (General Renault), the text refers to Mr. Pelvilain's system as a ferryman in Rouen.
We have Gazette n°16 transported by the Lavoisier to Belgium, n°29 SC stamp in red and mention of insufficient postage; and also Gazette n°17 transported by the Lavoisier to Constantinople (Turkey, by land, rare), but above all Gazette n°18, also transported by the Lavoisier with the map of Paris in color having traveled (Handwritten mention 'Je vous ai adressé la carte') which constitutes the major piece of this set (estimate 50,000 euros).
Finally, volume no. 3 includes Gazette no. 20, transported by Le Bayard, a very rare entrusted letter from the official mail bag. There's also Gazette N°22 Le Vaucanson postmarked Les Lilas.
Gazette n°24 (Le Duquesne) franked n°38 to 40c for Constantinople (Turkey) by sea. Gazette n°25 from the official mail service (Le Kepler), confié folder, Bordeaux postmark. Gazette n°28 "le Général Bourbaki" for the Isle of Wight and the latest Gazettes including n°31 (Richard Wallace), several copies including for Alexandria (Egypt) and Gazette n°20 le général Cambronne, last date (with salvage cachet for La Rochelle) last date January 27, 1871.
This extraordinary set constitutes an incredible historical testimony, an almost daily fresco of the events connected with the siege of Paris, complete in every respect - anecdotal, historical, general and philatelic. A page-by-page summary table of the most interesting items is enclosed.
