Engraved bronze ingot iron. Rounded end with square handle secured by two screws. Thick soleplate with door on the back of the iron for sliding the heated ingot. Decoration of foliage and coat of arms Azure with chevron Argent and three mullets Or, crescent Argent in base. Monogram FM in the coat of arms and dated 1726. 18th century, 1726 H.: 13cm, W.: 17.6cm, D.: 11.7cm The coat of arms, monogram and date suggest that this iron belonged to the household of Madame Jeanne Morel de Fromental, married to Jean de Villoutreys, seigneur de Faye in Limoges on January 11, 1729. Jeanne Morel de Fromental died on October 6, 1758 in Faye (Haute-Vienne) at the age of 45.
