Yatagan sword, Ottoman Empire, probably Balkans, 19th century Single-edged, curved steel blade with gutter and wavy line molded back. Heel molded with repeated floral stem decoration in an ovum. Moulded silver mounting with floral and trophy motifs framed by scrolled cartouches. Wooden scabbard sheathed in brown leather and trimmed at both ends with cast silver plates engraved with baroque floral decoration framed by scrolled cartouches, the upper part decorated with alternating pearled and filigree friezes, the lower part finished with a dolphin-headed dart. Length without scabbard: 84 cm; total length: 88 cm; gross weight: 1314 g Rusty blade, wear and minor accidents, silver parts coated with yellow paint.
