Large enameled lantern, Syria, Damascus, early 20th century Lantern with octagonal body, topped by an eight-sided neck and finished with a conical end, in enameled copper in shades of white, cobalt blue and turquoise blue, punctuated with pink touches. Geometric decoration on the neck and conical end, repeating openwork motifs on either side of a colored cabochon. The body alternates similar panels with four epigraphic panels inscribed in cursive Arabic forming the phrase: "In the name of God, the Great, the Merciful, Allah is the Light of Heaven and Earth". Four suspension chains alternating metal plates and blue pearls. Height: 54 cm Base detached, accidents, rust, missing parts, minor deformations. Provenance: Maison Tarazi Collection.
