Two pairs of hammam qabqab plinths, Near East, 19th century Socques with raised wooden soles, the whole inlaid with pewter fillets and mother-of-pearl plates forming a geometric composition on the first, a floral stem on the second with contours underlined by bone plates. The straps of each pair are made of leather, covered with garnet velvet and embroidered with silver foliage in relief on the first, and embroidered with metallic threads forming a star in the center of a rectangular panel on the second. Size of each pair (without straps): 12 x 23.5 x 14.2 cm and 6 x 23.4 x 4.5 cm Wear, minor inlay damage, one flange of the first pair very damaged. Provenance: Maison Tarazi collection.
