Eugène BOUDIN.
L.A.S., Paris January 3, 1893, to Mme MARTIN; 3pages in-8 in purple ink.
"You have no idea of the work I have to do and of the worries of a poor painter who, moreover, has to struggle against the half-darkness of winter days. It's when you get older that you should see the burden lightened - it's nothing like that for us... we're forced to be more valiant than the young, and yet we no longer have their verve... Finally... the work would still be bearable were it not for the thousand and one concerns of day-to-day life"...
He mentions the problems of the estate that Mme Martin has to resolve, regretting that she is obliged to leave her "lodgings in the rue de la Cité... Perhaps you'll be just as happy somewhere else, but that's where our late friend lived again"...
