MAÏMONIDE], Moré Nevoukhim (Guide des Égarés), Soultzbach, Arnstein et fils, 1828.
In-4, worn half-parchment binding.
Edition of the Guide with commentary by Moses Narboni and a commentary entitled Guiveat Ha-Moré.
Handwritten bookplates in Hebrew and French of Rabbi Joachim Lévy of Minversheim, who claims to have bought "Cette More" in Strasbourg in 1831 for ten francs. At the end of the book, a few handwritten lines in Hebrew seem to extol the greatness of the Guide des Égarés.
Joachim Lévy, alias Yauchéné, alias Yohanan d'Obernai, Minversheim, was rabbi in Minversheim, Niedernai, Itterswiller and Obernai. That he was in possession of this Guide des Égarés, to which he seems to have attached some importance, tells us something about the degree of Jewish erudition of Alsatian rabbis at the time.
