[POSTER - SPEIDEL AFFAIR] Poster published by the Communist Party protesting the appointment of General Speidel and falsely attributed to General Speidel. S.l., n.d. [1957]. Tears, creases and restorations. 38.5 x 56 cm Hans Speidel was the subject of much controversy. Appointed to one of NATO's top posts after the war, he was criticized for having served as a general in Hitler's Wehrmacht. Because of his past, sons of deportees refused to perform their military service under his command and were sent to prison. As a result of the scandal and protests, they were released from service under his orders. Our poster takes a satirical approach to denouncing this scandal.
