This announcement is illustrated by the reprint of a satirical drawing by J. Belon on the pardon granted by the President of the Republic to Alfred Dreyfus after the judgment of the Rennes Council of War. The President of the Republic is shown with his back to the wall, the Rennes War Council's decision torn open in his left hand, opening the prison door to Alfred Dreyfus, who emerges with a suitcase in his hand; on the suitcase are two labels, "Devil's Island" and "Berlin". The shadow cast on the wall depicts the silhouette of an animal (a donkey?).
