Ivory half vellum, fancy paper boards, ornate smooth spine (Italian binding circa 1900). Reunion of 170 color costume plates by Nargeot and Lanté, taken from the Journal La Mode for the years 1832, 1833 and 1834. Created in October 1829 by Émile de Girardin and continued under various titles until 1862, this important fashion journal published nearly 1,000 engravings of costumes, scenes and colored caricatures until 1862. A note signed L. Labarthe indicates that these volumes were purchased in Florence in May 1910. To complete the set, plates 233, 239-256, 337, 403-404, 407, 409, 411, 413, 415 and 417 are missing. A charming copy in Italian binding. Scattered foxing, plate 344 restored and doubled, several plates browned in the 4th volume. Provenance: L.
