This exhaustive inventory will give the public an insight into forty years of design, from 1962 to 2002. Each garment is accompanied by a sketch and a sample of the material in which it was made. Information is provided on the name of the couture atelier that produced the garment, the model wearing it, and the order in which it was worn on the catwalk. The wardrobe ranges from Day to Evening ensembles, including Cabans, Saharas, Tuxedos and wedding dresses. Over 15,000 garments are covered in this unique work. Accompanied by a variety of indexing modes, by garment typology, by proper names and by theme, the catalog is made up of 4 volumes, each containing plates from four decades. This exceptional heritage, made public two years after Yves Saint Laurent's death, is published in a reduced 37cm x 28.5cm format compared to the original 65cm x 50cm format, to facilitate distribution. The Fondation Pierre Bergé - Yves Saint Laurent wished to make this extraordinary inventory public in order to bring to life the work of this great twentieth-century artist. This is the first time that the public will have access to the complete works of a great couturier" (publisher's presentation). Very well preserved copy.
