Very fine and rare album presenting the sets and costumes designed by George BARBIER (1882-1932) for Casanova, a three-act play by Maurice Rostand, performed at the Bouffes-Parisiens in February 1919, with Jane Renouardt in the title role. The work includes a preface by Barbier and 24 plates by Barbier, including 22 for costumes and 2 for sets, pattern-colored by Jacomet. Enriched with an original signed watercolor by George Barbier, dated 1924 and entitled La Lecture interrompue. Some soiling to dust jacket and renewed ties.
