RACINET (Auguste). Le Costume historique. Paris: Librairie de Firmin-Didot et Cie, 1876-1888. - 9 volumes in-8 square, 214 x 188. Navy blue Russian half-leather with corners, spine ribbed, gilt author, title and parts, "R.T." at foot (early 20th century binding). Colas, 2471. Same work as the previous two, but in an in-8 "small edition". The total number of plates is 474, not 500 as indicated on the title, as there are 26 double-page plates, each counting as two plates. Colas points out that "the plates and notices did not appear in numerical order, but as they were produced, which is why the publisher has marked them without a number". At the end, the text volume includes twelve line drawings of sections and patterns. A copy by the famous fashion designer Romain de Tirtoff, known as Erté. Each volume of this copy bears his artist's signature "Erté" on the first flyleaf, and the spines of the volumes bear his monogram "R.T." at the foot. Spines slightly faded.
