Wood carving of Samantabhadra, Nepal, Kathmandu Valley, 18th century The bodhisattva is depicted standing in tribhanga, his right foot resting on the back of an elephant lying on a lotus petal base. Necklaces adorn the torso and shoulders, falling to the legs, while the ears are adorned with large curls that fall to the shoulders. The left hand is in vitarkamudra, while the right holds a kapala. The smiling face is crowned and topped by a high bun, with a halo at the back. Traces of polychromy on the garment.
