Lacquered and inlaid wood coffee table, China, 17th century The rectangular, lacquered top inlaid with mother-of-pearl powder is adorned in the four corners and in the center of an oval with large pieces of mother-of-pearl forming scrolls embellished with lotus flowers and auspicious symbols such as stylized bats or sound stones. The whole is surrounded by Greek friezes. The base is surrounded by inlaid steatite of various colors, stained bone and mother-of-pearl with flowers, peaches and bats. 83 x 46.5 x 31.5 cm Worn and missing, legs reinforced with metal brackets, numerous repairs and possible reassembly.
