Porcelain plate decorated with a lively village enameled in the famille rose style, China, 19th century
Rectangular in height, decorated with various characters going about their business within the confines of a village bordering a body of water where sampans and fishermen's boats float. The top of the plaque bears the enamelled inscription in black:

Clouds from the southern harbor float around the ornate beams, while rain from the western mountains strikes the pearl curtains at dusk. Reflections of the colorful clouds lazily mirror themselves in the river waters, floating gently through the day. Time flies, things change, and who knows how many springs and autumns have passed. The Prince Teng who once revelled in this lofty pavilion is nowhere to be found, only the tumultuous waters of the river continue to flow endlessly beyond the balustrades.
