RENAISSANCE - DIALOGUES D'AMOUR Léon Abravanel, dit Léon l'Hébreu, Dialogi di Amore, composti per Leone Medico, di natione hebreo, e di poi fatto christiano. Venice, Aldus, 1541, fine woodcut printer's mark on title, repeated on verso of last leaf (boards rubbed; wear to last leaves). One vol. in 8, early 18th-century full brown calf binding, four-ribbed spine decorated with fillets and cold fleurons in the entrenerfs, title page on red morocco, marbled red edges (light wetness to the outer margin of the first blank leaves). A good copy. This famous work by the son of Judah Abravanel, who took refuge in Italy after the exile of 1492, is one of the masterpieces of Renaissance humanist neo-Platonism, presented here in the first Aldine edition (published six years after the original Rome edition), much more difficult to find than the second of 1545.
