Victor HUGO (1802-1885). Original drawing, signed lower right, [circa 1866]; pen and brown ink wash; on view 6.5x18cm (framed). Stormy landscape. Between two thatched cottages, a large tree is battered by the storm. The effect of light and shadow (on the parts left in reserve) is striking. The drawing is signed in capital letters in white gouache: "victor hugo". It has retained its original frame, with the label of the framer G. Masson on the back, and Auguste Vacquerie's signature on the blue paper below. This drawing will appear in the catalog of Victor Hugo drawings being prepared by Pierre Georgel.
