For this book, the publisher commissioned Laure Albin Guillot to create special photographs in response to Der Halden's text, and to use previously unpublished images from a reportage in Morocco for the end of the book's text. This middle-school reading book was reprinted many times until 1945. This is a copy of the first edition, in fine condition, whereas the few copies that can usually be found have been much handled and are not first editions.
