Court scene in a camp, Iran, Safavid style, 19th century Gouache and gold on the folio of a poetic manuscript depicting an encampment scene, with a man whose head is covered with a golden aigrette headdress giving an audience in his tent. Several turbaned men stand or kneel discussing in a rocky landscape crossed by a river visible in the foreground. Text in Persian nasta'liq spread over four columns and oblique lines fill the lower margin. Framed. Mounted on an album page with several colored and gilded borders and a wide gold-flecked margin.
