Fine proof on thin cream laid paper, prior to the Basan print run, pale, with the small point strokes in the upper and lower right corners (these marks "not by Rembrandt" according to E. Hinterding and J. Rutgers, in New Hollstein), before the later revivals in the subject, the scratches still perceptible in the lower right corner, the rough edges of the copper heavily inked, very carefully washed. Small restoration to the right-hand edge on verso, perceptible on recto. Margins 2-3 mm.
