Andy Warhol 1928: Born in 1928 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (USA) into a family of Eastern European immigrants, Andy Warhol caused a sensation by transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary. With his striking works, Andy Warhol broke down the barriers between high art and commercial art. He challenged preconceived ideas about art and the creative process, and definitively changed the criteria for defining art. Warhol's provocative depictions of trivial objects were immediately recognized by art collectors and the public worldwide, driving up auction prices to phenomenal heights. Andy Warhol succeeded in doing what few artists have: he became not only a legend in his own lifetime, but also a true icon of contemporary culture who continues to inspire us today. The limited edition of 1928 pieces (number 908) draws its inspiration from Flowers, 1964, an iconic work by Warhol. Four brightly-colored hibiscus designs are featured on the cap, grouped in pairs to evoke his style. In homage to Warhol's legendary studio, The Silver Factory, the body is in silver-gray lacquered metal, adorned with floral motifs to match the cap. In reference to the perpetual commentary on commercialism in Warhol's work, the cone is adorned with one of the symbols he chose for this theme: the barcode. The metal cap is impressively long, covering 2/3 the length of the nib. The weight is equally impressive, approaching 50 grams! The hinged clip takes the shape of the tool inseparable from the artist's beloved screen-printing technique, the squeegee. The top of the cap is engraved with a phrase by Andy Warhol: You need to let the little things that would ordinarily bore you suddenly thrill you. In tribute to the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, created in 1987, Copy Right/TM AWF and the artist's signature are engraved on the cap ring. The 14-carat rhodium-plated gold nib is engraved with the controversial dollar sign, symbolizing the place of money in popular culture. Piston filling system. In box with papers and over-box.
