Scipione Borguese 888:
A Montblanc limited series from the Mécènes collection paying tribute this year to Italian Cardinal Scipione Borghese. Appointed head of the Vatican's governmental affairs in 1605, he was a patron of numerous artists such as the sculptor Gian Lorenzo Bernini and the painter Le Caravaggio, and gave them access to worldwide recognition.
Numbered on 888 copies (number 285).
The edition is a unique marriage of Roman interior design and Baroque style. The dark green marble of the body echoes the Ottoman Baroque style that dominates the interior decoration of the Villa Borghese.
The openwork trim in 18-carat red gold represents the motifs of the gallery floors. The chased decoration on the ring at the top of the cap is inspired by ancient motifs, while the top of the cap symbolizes the cardinal's skullcap.
The clasp is set with a drop-cut smoky quartz that recalls the branches of the monumental old trees in the landscaped garden of the Villa Borghese.
18-carat red gold nib engraved with the Borghese family coat of arms, piston filling system.
In its box with its papers and over-box.
