ARMAND RASSENFOSSE (1862-1934)

- Yolande Oostens-Wittamer - L'Affiche belge 1900 - Bibliothèque royale Albert Ier, Bruxelles, 1975, n°127, page 88. Our poster reproduced on page 226.

In 1895, Rassenfosse created a drawing for his master and friend Félicien Rops, to be used as a poster for the exhibition to be held at the Salon des Cent in Paris: a character by Rassenfosse looks through a magnifying glass at a cocotte, as Rops liked to represent them - with humor and complicity. Unfortunately, the exhibition was cancelled, but the visual was printed delicately in two colors on orange paper - this is our very rare copy. In 1896, La Plume used the same drawing for a general exhibition - the honor was safe, but the print was of lesser quality!
