Leonetto CAPPIELLO (1875-1942)
Chocolate-Louit, 1921
Mixed media. Mounted on canvas.
Signed lower right.
(Misses. Tears at foot).
159.5 x 119.5 cm

Bibliography :
Rennert, p. 266, no. 425.

A farandole of children clutching a giant chocolate bar - the arabesque is a perfect eye-catcher.
This model is also a perfect example of Devambez's responsiveness. This image was clearly created for Louit chocolate - which, for reasons we don't know, didn't follow up... who cares! It was sold to Suchard for the Milka brand, which now features on the label! The only real difference is that the background is now red. A precious document for the history of advertising!
