Leonetto CAPPIELLO (1875-1942) Pasta the Moon, 1924 Mixed media. Mounted on canvas. Signed and dated lower left. (Rubbed and slightly missing). 199 x 128 cm A poster that's bound to catch the eye of passers-by: first there's the comediadelartesque clown, sitting precariously on a packet of pasta. Then, as he stuffs his face against a backdrop of starry clouds, he gazes at the concupiscent moons that surround him with envy. The whole thing has all the makings of a great poster - which doesn't seem to have been edited.
