Last edition published during the author's lifetime, of the Géographie universelle by historian and geographer Pierre Du Val (1619-1683). The original appeared around 1660. This pocket atlas has become extremely rare. It includes 2 engraved titles, 2 tables, 82 double-page copper-engraved maps and 37 (out of 39) engraved coats of arms depicting the world's major countries. Missing are coats of arms 6 and 7, i.e. those of the "Mountain Kingdom" and "Cypre Lusignan". A copy in contemporary binding in which all the plates, with the exception of the tables, are in color. As is often the case, the text leaves are missing. Hinge of first cover completely cracked, that of second cover partly cracked. Smudging at the end of the volume.
