Corrected second edition of this polemical work attributed to the Italian cardinal Francesco Albizzi (1593-1684). It is a refutation of a posthumous work by Venetian theologian Paolo Sarpi (1552-1623), published in 1638 under the title "Discorso dell'origine, forma, leggi ed uso dell'Uffizio dell'Inquisizione nella città e dominio di Venezia", in which Sarpi defended the "mixed character" and autonomy of the Venetian Inquisition from the Congregation of the Holy Office. A good copy in contemporary binding. Lacking the last box.
