Violet morocco, boards decorated with a frame composed of a band of havana morocco, decorated at the corners with a circle of dark green morocco and on its edges with mosaic motifs representing snakes, stylized leaves, a necklace of tassels, a rose, a small sparkling medallion, spine decorated with a mosaic rose in the center, brown morocco lining edged with a gilt roulette and adorned with a mosaic frame of tan morocco decorated with mosaic flowers and scrolls, brown moiré silk endpapers, double endpapers, gilt head, untrimmed, cover and spine preserved, lined case (L. Godet. Lyon). Original edition of 312 copies, illustrated with 18 color etchings by Georges ROCHEGROSSE (1859-1938) engraved by Eugène Decisy, including one on the title, 11 in the text and 6 full-page illustrations. One of 240 copies on Arches vellum (no. 124), this one with a suite of 4 color frames on Whatmann. A superb copy in a contemporary lined and mosaic binding by L. Godet of Lyon. Slight traces of rubbing, not serious.
