Small copper and cloisonné enamel tray, China, 18th century
Circular in shape, mounted on three legs, decorated with lotus flowers and chrysanthemums in polychrome enamel on a turquoise-blue background. In the center is a small gilded and chased copper pastille of a stylized flower. The underside is gilded.
Height: 3 cm; diameter: 14 cm; weight: 240 g
Feet re-soldered, minor restorations in the enamels around the feet.

Provenance:
Sotheby's London, April 4, 1966, lot 108.

The small dot in the center of the bowl could be an old repair that appears on the reverse. Indeed, this object may originally have been an incense wand holder, the central piece of which has now disappeared. This explains the gilded reverse.
