Wooden snuffbox embellished with carved mother-of-pearl plaques, Japan, late 19th century This hollowed-out monoxyl flask is adorned on each side with a finely carved mother-of-pearl plaque featuring trees, pierced rocks and waterside pavilions with figures contemplating the water and mountains in the clouds. The shoulders are carved with a shou sign and the neck with a Greek frieze. Glass stopper.
