Robert de MONTESQUIOU (1855-1921). L.A.S., [13] June 1913, to Paul Souday; 6 1/2 pages small in-4 on blue paper, envelope.
Ironic letter, about Souday's book Les Livres du Temps (a collection of his literary columns in Le Temps). Today [...] it interests me above all as a phenomenon, relating to the not inconsiderable group of those whose ineptitude for solidarity should not, however, exclude them even from consideration"... He continues to tease Souday with humor, but prefers to end on "Barrès's beautiful dedication. He says I'll be discovered. I find it hard to believe that such a spirit is mistaken. So I don't think, without shuddering, of the evil that will be said of you. And I won't be there to defend you"...
