Truly, citizen, you are full of attention for me, and I can only be penetrated by it". The sale of the château de Mazan must be speeded up: "I've bought and I'm going to find myself crushed by interest, for lack of receiving from you the money I need to pay; I beg you on bended knee to send your son to complete this sale, which is becoming so important, I repeat for the last time, that if you don't do it right away, I'll either sell from here, or send an express man to the site". And he insists on his need for money, in cash and in assignats... Finally, he talks about the forced loan, making sure "to include in compensation the indemnities I have to claim for the ravages of the Coste. It is on this basis that I have made my declaration here, announcing that my property being under your management, it was you who should be approached"....
