Eugène CARRIÈRE (1849-1906). 2 charcoal drawings on a single sheet; 25 x 25 cm. on brick-red paper, inventory stamp and studio stamp. Two studies for a maternity ward, typical of Carrière's style. On the back, autograph text, reflections on likeness: "learn that only likeness makes us love [...] our effort is sterile without the contentment of our fellow men. To be looked at reassures the man of truth but troubles the liar"... Etc.
