ALPHONSE MUCHA (1860-1939)
Four seasons, 1896
4 chromolithographs. Interleaved. Signed in the plate. 106x54 cm
(Very good condition).

Bibliography:
Alphonse Mucha, Toutes les affiches et panneaux - Jack Rennert and Alain Weill, éditions Henri Veyrier, Paris 1984. Referenced under number 18 on page 90.

The enterprising publisher who had Mucha under contract soon realized that, in the midst of the poster craze, it was possible to make a lot of money with derivative products: decorative panels were born.
The 4 seasons (Mucha designed three versions - and not only himself!) were a phenomenal success.
Our set, the first to date, dates back to 1896, the original print, before numerous variants in various formats.
For enthusiasts, this is Mucha in all his mature splendor.
