Silver covered dish. Saint Petersburg, 1857.
Rectangular dish, slightly flared at the top. Pyramidal lid with movable ring-shaped grip. The front bears the monogram of Grand Duke Mikhail Nikolaevich (1832-1909), fourth son and last child of Emperor Nicholas I, General Field Marshal, President of the Council of State.
The dish is numbered "N° 3" and the lid on the socket "N° 4", clearly indicating that these items were part of a service. The dish is further engraved with its weight "3 ф : 4 1/4 з:" (3 pounds and 4.25 zolotniki, or 1247 g).
