CHRISTOFLE CIRCA 1850 Silver-plated, multi-lobed, covered vegetable dish with two scrolled handles, the handle depicting a spectacular flower on a leafy terrace. It is engraved with a figure in a floral medallion. Hallmark in full letters: CHRISTOFLE, in a rhombus, and model number: 59950. In the middle of the century, Christofle's acquisition of the electrolysis patent made tableware available to as many people as possible, even though at the time it was confined to the upper classes. Pieces for everyday use replaced those for show. This vegetable dish, of which a similar model appeared in the company's catalog around 1850, is a perfect example in excellent condition.
