From 1892 to 1966, this was the highlight of student festivities at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. There was a theme every year: after having exhausted Antiquity, the students chose exoticism, as here with this African tribe of Bamilékés. André Plisson designed the poster with a whimsy that he lacked for the rest of his career - a rare occurrence.
