MUSICIANS. 7 P.A.S. on terracotta; approx. 13 x 20 cm each. Set of autographs collected during the Prades Festival in the 1960s by Louis Mallais du Carroy (1923-1980), ceramist and music lover. Equipped with slabs of soft unbaked clay into which the stylus could sink, he collected these autographs from artists, then dried the slabs and fired them at high temperature in his ceramist's kiln. Cellist Maurice GENDRON (1920-1990) inscribed the beginning of the Prelude to Bach's 3rd Cello Suite and signed it. Pianist Mieczyslaw HORSZOWSKI (1892-1993) inscribed the beginning of Chopin's Nocturne op.27 n°2 and signed. Violinist Igor OISTRAKH (1931-2021) inscribed his signature in Russian and the date 7/VIII 64 . Violinist Alexander SCHNEIDER (1908-1993), initiator in 1950 of the Prades Festival (later called the Pablo Casals Festival), inscribed a line of violin music and signed. Violinist Wolfgang SCHNEIDERHAN (1915-2002) inscribed a line of music for violin and dedicated it: Monsieur Mallais du Carroy avec plaisir Wolfgang Schneiderhan Prades, April 4, 1965 . Soprano Irmgard SEEFRIED (1919-1988) inscribed the dedication: Herzlich Irmgard Seefried 1965 . Pianist Rudolph SERKIN (1903-1991) inscribed a line of music and signed.
