Pablo CASALS (1876-1973). P.A.S. on terracotta; 13 x 19.8 cm. An exceptional piece, collected in the 1960s in Prades by Louis Mallais du Carroy (1923-1980), a ceramist and music lover who was a regular at the Prades Festival. Armed with a slab of soft unbaked clay, he had Casals trace the autograph with a stylus; he then dried the slab and fired it at high temperature in his ceramics kiln. Pablo Casals inscribed the first notes of his beloved Cant dels Ocells (Birdsong), and doubled his signature with the imprint of his ten fingers.
