King's bodyguard saber of the 1st model. Handle in shagreen with silver filigree. Chased and gilded brass mounting, shell guard with the great arms of France. Punched fleur-de-lys quillon. Long, curved, flat-backed blade, marked "Manufre Rle de Klingenthal Aout 1814" and engraved on both sides "GARDES DU CORPS DU ROI", fleurs-de-lis, trophies of arms, great arms of France. Black varnished leather scabbard (worn) with three cut-out brass fittings, line-decorated and stamped en suite, with two brass rings. A.B.E. First Restoration period.
