End wood marquetry chest of drawers, the front opening to two drawers, decorated with flowers in a reserve on a rosewood background, ornamentation of gilded bronzes, the apron marked with a crowned c (1745-1749), probably with a frame of bronzes on the original drawers, the Aleppo breche marble top resting on curved uprights terminating in cambered feet. Stamped by Adrien Faizelot Delorme, cabinetmaker received as master in 1748. Louis XV period. H. 83 cm, W. 97 cm, D. 53 cm Cabinetmaker Adrien Delorme was also a dealer. This is why Alexandre Pradère (Les ébénistes français de Louis XIV à la Révolution, Paris, 1989, p. 179) mentions a number of stylistic similarities between Delorme-stamped furniture and BVRB's work. It seems quite likely that Delorme resold a number of pieces made by BVRB, but probably also by Jacques Dubois. A commode stamped Dubois (probably I. Dubois) featuring the same type of marquetry and sharing some of the same bronze patterns as our commode was sold in Paris on December 19, 2008, lot 394. Another chest of drawers with similar lines but larger size, featuring the same falls, also seems likely to be attributed to Dubois (New York sale, Sotheby's, May 21, 1994, lot 194).
