Large gray schist head of Maitreya Buddha, in the style of Greco-Buddhist Gandhara art. Serene face, straight nose, well-defined, half-closed eyes and wavy moustache, urna on forehead. Hair gathered in a bun on the crown of the head. The sophisticated hairstyle is encircled by a headband adorned with voluminous jewels, some decorated with mythical animals. The long-lobed ears are adorned with disc-shaped earrings. Height: 34 cm Restoration, face probably rubbed.
